Fixing Unresponsive Screens

Is your screen frozen or not detecting touch? Follow these 5 proven methods to bring it back to life.

An unresponsive touch screen can be caused by anything from a simple software glitch to a faulty screen protector. Before heading to a repair shop, try these fixes.

1

Perform a Force Restart

Often, a system process freezes the UI. A force restart cuts power to the CPU for a second and clears the temporary memory.

For iPhone: Quickly press Vol Up, then Vol Down, then hold the Side Button until the Apple logo appears.
2

Clean the Screen Thoroughly

Oil, moisture, or dirt on the screen can interfere with the capacitive touch sensors. Use a microfiber cloth and a tiny bit of distilled water.

3

Remove Screen Protector & Case

Sometimes the case is putting too much pressure on the edges of the screen, or a cracked screen protector is blocking the sensors.

4

Disconnect Charging Accessories

A faulty charger or cable can cause "Ghost Touch" or make the screen unresponsive due to improper grounding and electrical interference.

5

Enter Recovery Mode (Last Resort)

If the screen is still unresponsive, connect it to a computer to see if the hardware is detected. This helps confirm if it's a software or hardware failure.
